Hosted by Georgetown's Family Medicine Interest Group, this event will feature a discussion of the innovative practice created by Dr. Alan Dappen, DocTalker. DocTalker is a practice in Virginia which charges patients not with a fee-for-service model, but instead by billing for the amount of time consumed. Dr. Dappen will discuss how his practice works with students of the Family Medicine Interest Group. BRI students are invited to attend as well.

Our Lady of Hope Clinic offers 24/7 primary care access to the providers at the clinic for a monthly or yearly fee and free care to those that are unable to afford health insurance. Dr. Kloess will discuss his experience with running a direct primary care practice and how his unique and innovative health care delivery model benefits the community and working poor.

Take a break from studying, eat some food, play some Euchre ... maybe talk about healthcare innovations, ethics, economics, or policy?

The MUCOM BRI Chapter Euchre Tournament will be a fundraising/charity event. Each team will be charged $10 to enter the tournament, $5 for individuals. 50% of the tournament entrance fees will go to the winning team's charity of choice, PLUS eternal bragging rights for having won the first ever MUCOM Euchre Tournament! The other 50% will go to the MUCOM BRI Chapter to fund future speakers and events.

Open to all students, faculty, friends, parents, grandparents, etc. Pick your best Euchre partner(s)!

Tournament details: There will be 30 minutes of pool play to allow people to warm up or learn how to play. We will then proceed into a single elimination tournament.

Registration: Please register before the day of the tournament. Team name, team members, $10, name of charity for donation. Individuals: Your name, $5.

University of Louisville School of Medicine is proud to host another BRI Chapter Debate on the future of healthcare. Dr. Garrett Adams, president of Physicians for a National Health Program and  Dr. Michael Strickland of LetMyDoctorPractice.org will argue both sides of this highly contested national debate. Dr. Strickland will be taking a stance on a more conservative, private payer healthcare system; Dr. Adams will argue for a more liberal, single-payer health plan.

There will also be a free Qdoba buffet provided before the event!

Street meter parking is available all around campus, and there is also a UofL garage at the corner of Chestnut and Preston Street.

Exactly how does freedom enrich life, of which medicine is just one aspect? Dr. Gunderman is Chancellor’s Professor of Radiology, Pediatrics, Medical Education, Philosophy, Liberal Arts, Philanthropy, and Medical Humanities and Health Studies at Indiana University. We think he'll have some thought-provoking things to say.
