BRI/AMA Journal Club is a meeting where students present and discuss news or journal articles on various extra-medical topics. Themes relate to health policy, public health, medical technology, and much more. Other upcoming 2015 dates are: Mar 25; Apr 29; May 13.
POST-EVENT SUMMARY: In this monthly edition of Journal Club, two students, an M1 and an M2, presented on the current hot topic of vaccinations. Payton Sterna presented a marketing journal article that discussed the perceptions of Internet PSAs and their perceived credibility. He then opened up to discussion the students’ viewpoints. Topics included the extent of free medical speech, what policy action should be put into place without infringing on the rights of patients and physicians alike.
Matthew Crabtree shared his thoughts on the epidemiology and modeling of measles in particular.
Sixty-five (65) medical students attended and were served lunch.
