Peter Viccellio, MD, Clinical Director of the Emergency Department at Stony Brook, will be debating Francis S. Stellaccio, MD, Associate Professor of Anesthesiology, on the proper role of government in health care and on the effects of the ACA.
Dr. Stellaccio’s clinical interest is in advanced airway management. He attended the University of Guadalajara, and recently co-presented a paper: No Pain Labor N’ Delivery: a collaborative educational-global health initiative to transform current knowledge and skills into better maternal and neonatal outcomes. Dr. Viccellio joined the faculty at Stony Brook in 1988. Under his leadership, Emergency Medicine became a Department in the Medical School. He also served as the department’s first residency director. He was appointed Vice Chairman and later Clinical Director of the Emergency Department. Known for his engaging teaching style, Dr. Viccellio received the Aesculapius Award for Excellence in Teaching from the SUNY School of Medicine in 2003.
