Dr. Josh Umbehr, Founder of AtlasMD, a Direct Primary Care facility in Wichita, KS will make a short presentation and take questions about how a Direct Primary Care (DPC) model of healthcare delivery works.
NOTE: This event takes place in the Eastern time zone. ALL are welcome to attend. Refreshments will be served; RSVPs appreciated.
POST-EVENT SUMMARY: 25 students attended the presentatioin. BRI-SUNY Downstate, along with SUNY Downstate Med Council, and SUNY Downstate University Council hosted Dr. Umbehr for an informal Q&A session about how Direct Primary Care works, especially in his practice based in Kansas, Atlas MD. He touched on many topics, including price transparency, access to health care, and how his business model affords him the opportunity to spend much more time working with patients instead of paperwork. It was a very big success, as the talk went on for about 80 minutes, and not a single student left until we needed to vacate the room for the next meeting. Attendees were all very engaged and excited about the model.
“The event exceeded expectations. Students who were skeptical asked some tough questions, but Dr. Umbehr answered very politely and knowledgeably. A testament to his effectiveness is that the two students that asked the toughest questions were the very students that stuck around afterward to talk to him more. Both left saying that they were very glad this event was organized, and asked him if they can email him in the future for more information. I think that pretty much says it all.” ~Mary Hahn, BRI-President, SUNY Downstate
