All are welcome to join us for our first members’ meeting, featuring a documentary screening of Poverty, Inc., and a short presentation by Dr. Adewole, the new faculty Adviser for our BRI-Ibadan chapter.
Refreshments will be served.
POST-EVENT SUMMARY: Twenty-seven (27) students joined us at our inaugural meeting. We started with a brief introduction of members and BRI values by Aishat Olanlege. Then Ekene Ohanwusi spoke about the benefits of membership. Our faculty Advisor, Dr. Adewole then gave a few words of advice and motivation about the possibilities of how we can affect change in Nigerian healthcare.
We then had a brainstorming session about our next 6 months plan for BRI and immediate needs for members in equipping us for the work ahead. We also scheduled our next event. Tola Oke the interim secretary took the minutes of the meeting and we also announced elections might begin at the next event. We decided on a paper presentation seminar to equip members on how to write a proper paper for early December.
We adjourned the meeting and started a full screening of the Poverty Inc. documentary.
“It was a first members only event and it was quite promising. The new members were enthusiastic and had a lot of brilliant ideas about how to take BRI forward in the University of Ibadan and permeate other colleges in Nigeria eventually.” ~Aishat Olanlege, BRI-Ibadan chapter founder and president
